Trial of Essiac to Ascertain Its Effect in Women with Breast Cancer (TEA-BC)

The primary objective of this study was to determine the difference in health-related quality of life (HR-QOL) between women who are Essiac users and those who have never used Essiac. The researchers concluded that while Essiac does not appear to improve HR-QOL or mood states, their study did show that no women reported any negative interactions with conventional breast-cancer treatment and several women reported positive benefits including decreased side-effects during radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Researchers concluded that Essiac is safe to use in conjunction with conventional breast-cancer treatment.
